From the Acupunk Rocks July E-letter:
This issue of the Acupunk Rocks e-letter is inspired by several of my acupuncture patients who have been on antibiotics for various reasons this past month. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and just take nasty medications if there is a persistent infection careening through your body or if a tick has decided to take up residence on you or your pets. Sadly those drugs often have side effects, especially on your digestive system.
Below are a few of supplements and products to help reduce the side effects of antibiotics and to deal with potential yeast infections that some women get. Please note that I do not get paid to endorse any of these. I use them myself and find they work. You may find them on Vitacost.com or your neighborhood natural food store.
After a Round of Antibiotics!
Taking antibiotics is like bombing the village to get rid of rats. Yes, they will help kill off the pathogens in your body. However they will also destroy all of your good bacteria in your intestines.
By populating your good gut bacteria you will notice less intestinal problems such as diarrhea, constipation and bloating. It will also help decrease the chance of a nasty yeast infection.
My favorite brand is Garden of Life. They make several versions of probiotics to suit your needs. Best price is on Vitacost.com
If you are one of those unfortunate woman who suffer from yeast infections these Tea Tree Oil Suppositories may become your best friends. Use as directed. Can also be found on Vitacost.com or Amazon.
